About the event
Join me on a summer foraging walk in the Alford area, where we will celebrate the changing of the seasons and the bountiful wild food available in early summer. Learn how to safely identify a diverse range of wild plants growing on your doorstep. On this gentle walk around the Alford countryside, you will learn the main principles of foraging, including safety, sustainability and ethics, as well as how foraging contributes to your health and wellbeing. Learn about the numerous ways that wild food can be incorporated into your diet and prepared in nutritious and delicious recipes. Suitable for all ages (babes in arms free, everyone else must be in possession of a ticket). Please wear sensible footwear and weather appropriate clothing; consider brining a basket or canvas bag for foraging (though we tend not to forage large harvests on these events), a camera (or camera phone), and a notebook if you wish to take notes on the walk. Finish the walk with a picnic of wild tasters and a refreshing wildcrafted (non alcoholic) drink, and a demonstration with Leanne on how to prepare and preserve wild ingredients in a number of different ways.
* dietary requirements can be met in most cases but only where booking has occurred a week or more ahead of the event. This is due to availability of specialist ingredients where I live etc.
