About the event
Join Leanne Townsend of Wild Food Stories on a late summer foraging walk in the Alford area. Learn how to safely identify a diverse range of wild plants and fungi growing on your doorstep. On this gentle walk around the Alford countryside, you will learn the main principles of foraging, including safety, sustainability and ethics. Add a number of wild plants and fungi to your repertoire and learn about the numerous ways that wild food can be incorporated into your diet and prepared in nutritious and delicious recipes. Suitable for all ages (babes in arms free). Please wear sensible footwear and weather appropriate clothing; consider brining a basket or canvas bag for foraging, a camera (or camera phone), and a notebook if you wish to take notes on the walk. Finish the walk with a small picnic and enjoy a range of tasters, which will inspire you to prepare and preserve wild ingredients in a number of different ways.
